Augmented Reality - Virtual Reality

Virtual Reality is being used in healthcare.  One particularly welcome experiment is VR Kind - designed to help relieve pain in children, especially those child with life threatening diseases such as cancer.





Today's class assignment is research focused.

Take a look a how augmented reality AR is being used to enhance tourism experiences, tourists' knowledge.



Different approach is virtual reality. Marriott's VRoom Service was launched in 2015 + designed to create immersive guests experiences.



For brands such as Vidanta Resorts in Mexico, VR can promote extra special destinations in a way that photos or traditional video fall short. And along with attracting guests, this content can also be used to pitch future developments and secure funding, by combining 360 video shots with virtual renderings of properties.  Link to 360° Video.

The assignment
  • Research one example each of hospitality/tourism use of AR and VR - embed videos in your blog
  • Explain the difference between  AR + VR as a customer experience.
  • What type of businesses/organization can best benefit from AR or VR - for what purpose?
  • Your opinion based on your research - Fad or real tool? Be prepared to support your position.
